Healthcare in Bluffton

Healthcare in Bluffton has upped its game! Not one, but two new hospitals and a health pavilion are coming to Bluffton. Novant Health, Beaufort Memorial Hospital and MUSC (Medical University of South Carolina) have broken ground on new medical facilities ensuring improved accessibility to health care options in the very near future.

Novant Health has begun construction on a $320 million project that will offer a range of medical specialties including surgical, ICU, cardiology, neurology, orthopedics, labor and delivery as well as emergency and trauma care. Initially, the hospital will provide 50 beds. The new facility is designed with the ability to expand to 100 beds, growing with the needs of the Bluffton community. Opening is projected for 2028.

Novant Health currently provides local medical care at the Hilton Head Medical Center, Hilton Head Island, SC and the Coastal Carolina Hospital, Hardeeville, SC.

Beaufort Memorial Hospital has begun its expansion project with construction of their Bluffton Community Medical Campus (BCMC), a 91,000 square foot facility that will provide emergency services and outpatient surgical procedures as well as imaging, lab, pathology and trauma services. Plans include four operating rooms, two endoscopy rooms, a cath lab, two emergency triage rooms, five fast track and 13 other emergency treatment rooms and a trauma room. A large part of the third floor is designated for future expansion. Plans for a 28 bed inpatient unit are currently under review.

MUSC Health has started construction on a three story, 54,000 square foot medical office building which will consolidate existing services in the Bluffton area into one location and provide new specialties as well. The MUSC Health Bluffton Pavilion will provide adult and pediatric primary care, a Hollings Cancer Center satellite clinic (oncology and infusion services with supporting lab and compounding pharmacy), pediatric specialty and urgent care (after hours), phlebotomy, pulmonary/sleep lab and vascular care.

The new pavilion will be constructed adjacent to the new BCMC and is scheduled to open in Spring 2026.
